Day 9. You would think after spending close to 5 hours on this I would have more. T.T I did redo the hair beret, but part of a wing, isn't completely finished, is all I've got, I'm sorry.
Sorry, I realized I seemed defensive. I knew you meant it to help. ^_^ maybe it should be like an Autumn angel, and her feathers are made of leaves...and then I can pretend it was all intentional; a happy accident. ^_^
I hope you understood my comment as it was intended, to help. As I said artistic license. Maybe she has been through the eye of a hurricane and her feathers are a bit rumpled. She is lovely and is still a WIP using a new tool. As terrific as this is I can only anticipate what you will be quickly producing as time passes.
yyithpistol yeah, I'm terrible about being meticulous, also I think the repetition would get to me as well. >.< I think I need to get better about switching things up and not focusing on just one thing. :)
I know that they are more uniform, but I had a hard time trying to achieve that, I am sure there is an easy way to achieve it, but at the moment I don't have the knowledge for it yet. I have an idea on how to fix it once it is one solid object, but right now, for me, it is about getting the wing all layed out and organized. :)
That is the beauty of digital art. :D COPY AND PASTE!! If Renoir or Bosch or any of the greats had Photoshop they would've used every trick available. Giger could use it, but he's such a monomaniac he'd do every tiny repeat by hand as a preference. Although sometimes that's kind of a way of meditating. the repeating shapes in feathers can be calming to do meticulously. But sometimes you just want to be done.
I love this model. I'm about to model a drawing i did of a winged character and just looking at this WIP answered a few questions I had in my head about how I would do it. Awesome piece.
Autumnal angle or eye of a hurricane my mind is already pondering the possibilities of color and texture. Lovely.

I am happy that this WIP helped in some way! And thank you I am glad you like it. ^_^

agreed the edges of feathers are more uniform...
Leaves tend to have scalped edges. The edges of feathers are straighter? Artistic license.
