I started this as a warm-up before working on commissions one day, but got into a sort of groove with the colors and couldn't help but run with it. I sometimes feel like I lose myself in some areas of the piece, however. Like I can't summon a clear enough mental image to sharpen some places as much as I'd want. Comments/thoughts?
I like the vignette effect. Attracted to the light which gently leads you down to the boat which is right there in the fore front. You get a where did that come from, I didn't notice that and it was right at my feet feeling!
I agree with Mark the softness helps give it a dreamy feel. The color scheme is great. I really like this piece.
Thanks! -and on a second look I agree. One of my roommates pointed out as well that with the boat as a focal point, you really don't need too much else to hold attention. It would take away from the overall picture by creating perhaps too many focal points.
I suppose the hardest thing is just being satisfied with one's own work sometimes. xD
maybe for the play of imagination it shouldn't be sharpened...
I can get lost in places in it myself...
:D
