A specular map would work except when I make a material I try to make it so I can apply it to any object. So for example this material uses 2 images that are box mapped, the rest, such as the mixing mask and color variation, are procedural. So whereas a specular map would work I prefer to avoid painting custom textures for objects.
Yes, that is a issue. Or should I say the issue. I've been trying to figure out why, if I could fix that I'd be happy with the material. I think it has more to do with my lighting setup than anything else. The problem is I need the front light.
Nope, not a Great Dane. Honestly not being an expert on dogs I can't say what kind of dog this is. Mostly I just followed the reference.
Nice indeed. I have two minor concerns. The back has almost no Specular reflection while the chest is quite shiny. And two it isn't a Great Dane. Very nice.
Fantastic! When I first looked at it I was trying to figure out if it was an actual sculpture you had done. - Your texture work is photo realistic and fooled my eyes for a second - Always love seeing your new work.
Glad you like it. :)
I'll probably update it for my next sculpt. I might reuse it for the rest of my anatomy studies.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with me.
I do as well. That is why I said easiest and not best. It is still a great material.

I suppose the easiest fix would be a specular map. Only an idea. I don't know much yet.

Thanks a ton!
I'm happy to hear you like it, especially the material as it took me a bit to get it right and I still feel it has some issues.
