This image was done for the weekly CG challenge here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/weeklycgc/?fref=nf
The background is a CC image with the model I created in front of it. The work was done in Blender 2.75.
The materials need more work but I am pleased overall with the way it came out. #weeklyCGC #studioghibli #robot
Wow, that is really neat! Thanks so much for sharing your workflow!
I really like the reflections were the neck goes into the head. Nice work!
Thanks for the compliment. the background is a creative commons image. That's what I meant by CC. I used Google to find one that fit the feel of the image I was going for. I imported the image as a plane and located it behind the model with the material type set to emission. I then added another plane in front of that texture with a glass material. I increased the roughness value to add a slight glow effect to the background. The material for the robot is a simple procedural bronze metal material.
I also had an hdri image for reflection and I used the freestyle line option to give it more of a cartoon like look.
It was rendered using Cycles. with 400 samples.
This looks really good! What is a CC texture? And how do you get that croton feel? I'm new to blender and don't know much.
