Blender modeled and rendered @ 2000 samples. Procedurally generated "water" shader similar to the shader forge tutorial on water. Photoshop was used for the sky and some touch ups on the water shader as well as some minor color adjustment.
I started this piece looking for a neat way to model geography in the style of the HBO Game of Thrones intro scene. I began testing some ideas out with the cell fracture add on and ended up really liking the geography it generated. It reminded me of ice and I just decided to run with it. As for the water, I tried to imagine what water would look like if it could fracture like ice but still maintain it's waves.
The soft color makes the ice jump out. Well done.
