A humpback whale breaching through the surface of the ocean, with the bright sun beaming from behind.
This was a real challenge to create this image, from creating a whale from scratch, to learning about the Mantaflow fluid sim in Blender, but in the end it came out very nice. Very nice indeed.
P.S. The new GPU compositor, along with Johnathan Lampel's "Render Raw" addon, were both a HUGE help in getting this render looking just right. Thank you to the Blender team and CGCookie.
Breathtaking art! How long did it take you? And where did you create the textures? It looks absolutely fantastic!
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words! It took about a year on my off-time actually, and I mainly created the textures in substance painter, with a few touch-ups in photoshop.
This is an incredible render, very inspiring! :)
Ah, thank you! I'm glad it can inspire someone else :)
Melvin Award worthy piece of art right here.
I love these colors and the intense light behind the whale. Chapeau!
I'm glad you think so! I've always wanted to do something similar to this, and it turned out well.
Cool!!
Glad you like!
