This image was created with Blender 2.69 using Cycles Render Engine with 300 samples. I added some minor post processing in Gimp.
I created it as part of the weekend challenges here:
http://blenderartists.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?17-Weekend-Challenge
This is for weekend challenge number 546 with the theme: Vibrant Contrast
I basically modeled a paint can and then created a few duplicates of that can and changed the color on each. I then created a group out of those cans. Finally, I added a mesh with a particle system and a simple displacement texture and used the can group to emit from that meshc added some simple lighting and ended up with what you see.
Here is a link to the blend file for that can if you are interested:

Note, the blend is only for one can, not for the overly cluttered file with particle system.
There are some things I like about this image and many things I think can be done better, but overall I am pleased with the end result.
