I didn't used to be a fan of "low-poly", or "origami" art, but I've grown to appreciate it. It's a great style to use when I want to focus on using composition, more-so than modeling, to convey the feeling of a render. It helps me to set my goal not necessarily on photorealism, but rather on creating a piece of artwork. After all, we all understand that CG art isn't limited to making something that looks just like something in the real world. :)
Anyway, rendered in Cycles at 150 samples. I made this in version 2.69...Before volumetric rendering was supported in Cycles, so the rays of light were added using a simple plane, with an emission+transparency material.
