wow, this really is great done love how the model turned out and those textures (texturing is really hard)
great job with the model , textures and the rig. still have to do this course :)
@kouya Thanks, Oliver 🙂! I've painted the feathers in Gimp starting with a stretched noise pattern for the feather fibres which I bent upwards using the "Warp Transform" tool . The quill is an appropriately stretched and squeezed radial gradient. The black cracks in the "Alpha Texture" have been drawn along the fibres using a tablet and pressure sensitivity for the brush size. Choose a radial gradient for the brush. Start drawing the cracks approximately half the distance between the feather outline and the quill. Avoid evenly spaced cracks as well as too many of them. Combine smaller and bigger cracks. The "Alpha Texture" is basically also a stretched and squeezed radial gradient with a completely white duplicate of the quill copied into it. You can see my progress in painting the feathers here:https://cgcookie.com/questions/13177-painting-piero-s-feather-textures-in-gimp-duerer-s-progress
