Awhile back there was a tutorial on CG Cookie on how to make a stuffed elephant by Josh Maule. That was actually the tutorial which made me decide to become a CG Cookie Citizen. So thanks Josh! He had an interesting approach to creating texture maps which I recommend checking out. At the time Blender was still using mesh objects to create hair particles. So here’s my attempt but using actual strand particles in the particle system.
Specs: created fully in Blender. Cycles 600 samples & used the compositor for touch ups such as reducing noise & color adjustments.
Inspiration: Pieter Mondrian, textile textures, & reading folklore from around the world.
