Most of the feathers are just being treated as place holders; as I've only used one base feather. They may be replaced later they may not, but I'm currently expecting that they will. The wings are currently bare. I'm not sure if I should stick with the slightly more realistic approach, or go with the original 'paddle' style that Square-Enix always uses.
I've used some techniques from both the Piero and the Introduction to Character Modelling courses; the poly hair technique in the Into to Character Modelling course is really useful. I couldn't get the particle feathers to look nice (Piero training course), so I'll be opting for a different method.

I have triangles in the beak and feathers, as well as converting some quads to tris to improve the silhouette; as the auto conversion wasn't very pretty.
