I always try to make these exercises my own. So, first I paint poppies instead of marigold, just because poppies have blossomed all around and, I really wanted to try them.
And second, I sought to experiment with watercolor brushes effect (admittedly the result came out not very successfully). Less is more in watercolors technique and, even digitally is very hard to master.
But I must mention that I found Zoe Piel’s and Robert Ardill’s youtube tutorials for watercolor brushes/techniques in Photoshop the most helpful.
