This was a 3d illustration created for a graphic novel pet project. The satellite was modeled and rendered with an older version of Blender pre 2.5 using the internal render engine. The terrain was generated, textured, and rendered using Terragen and the stars and some minor details were painted in Photoshop. I had a lot of fun experimenting with the idea of a liquid filled capsule on top of a satellite on the moon. You can see the hoses snaking their way over the top of the satellite base and just make out some of the hand painted decals on the cargo doors. It took a few days and was a lot of fun.
