Charlotte Final

Created with a combination of Clip Studio Paint for drawing and Photoshop for the final adjustments and effects, Charlotte is a girl who loves singing karaoke! The image is originally inspired by the character of "Charlotte" in the film "Lost in Translation". Starting off with a basic gesture, then building up the form using a mannequin-like base, I detail and refine the image as I work up to a pleasing final refined rough. Thereafter, I take care to clean up the image for coloring. For coloring, I start with flats for each zone, which I make sure aren't too saturated. When the flats are done, I move onto shading soft and hard shadows, and then lighting soft and hard highlights, taking care to keep fundamental value and colour theory in mind, as well as edges. I work up the painting to a point relevant to a cartoon or animated style, and then finish the image by doing some light color adjustments in Photoshop. Enjoy!
