This is my latest painting. It took me approximately two months so finish, as most of the time I was rather thinking about it than actually painting. The total painting time would be just a few days, I think. Say, up to a week, if I was doing this the whole time.
I used Photoshop CS4 for it, no external resources such as brushes or textures. I did use a few custom brushes that I'd made on my own, and they were created with internal resources only - just various dots and blobs that I painted myself. I am really pro painting an entire piece myself, from scratch.
I only used a photo ref for the background and I'm really glad I did for it made a huge difference compared to what I initially had in mind to paint. No ref used for the Captain or his bird.
Captain Blindeye is part of a fantasy world I'm currently developing (way too slowly but gloriously, as the saying goes).
