First I did a lot of research and found some great images of the real Azog 3D model on youtube, then turned on some LOTR soundtracks and started sculpting.
I sculpted the head and the chest with detail, then I did some retopology and added in the details from the sculpt to the new mesh using "Bake Normals". The scars where done on a separate displacement map by using the Texture Paint tool.
I used some composition techniques from Kent Trammells "Jellyfish"- tutorial, like the lens distortion and some other stuff.
