The Antikythera Mechanism. A marvel of ancient ingenuity or just an ancient joke to annoy archaeologists?
The Antikythera Mechanism was made around 200-100BCE. Evidence shows that they made it first try indicating they'd had practise; meaning this wasn't the only such machine in the world.
Discovered 2,000 years after being lost in a Roman shipwreck it has been a headache for science, and me, ever since.
