I SO hope that one day it will be :)

  • Char Hunter(Char)

Yeah, mrdojo, but look at what's been accomplished in the last 10 years. They've still got life to give.

  • Jake Korosi(jakeblended)

We will all have a little bit of a learning curve again once 2.8 comes out. There are some changes to deal with. But I'm liking what I'm seeing for sure.

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

I should clarify that I see more and more professionals using Blender at their studios *on an individual basis*. To my knowledge Blender still isn't the core app at any AAA studio (film or game - YET

  • Thibaut Bourbon(tbrbn)

yeah, a very nice person too :)

@theluthier Well, good thing I'm learning it now. It'll be interesting to see. Currently, I'm talking to a student at Guildhall, and they use Mudbox and 3ds Max. They're known for having strong connections to the game industry and change their curriculum all the time. So, who knows?

  • Bauke Post(baukepost)

I do think it will be difficult for bigger studios to switch software. Maya-Blender for example.

Blender has a bright future but it needs to develop new modeling tools to stay competitive imo. The irony is that most of the tools that keep Max/Maya users from transitioning are relatively easy but leave a HUGE impact on speed. Things like: Edit Poly Modifier, Set Flow etc.

    That's really cool
