This stream is part of the June 2018 Class: Vehicle Modeling with Blender
There's another facet of vehicle modeling that doesn't involve strict adherence to blueprints. Instead, Concept Sculpting is about designing a vehicle from scratch using the artistic approach of digital sculpting. This can be an extremely fun, experimental method for creating unique vehicles.
Thanks Thibaut! I quite liked taking a diary approach to my progress even if I missed a couple days. I'm in love with the crispness of your model, looking forward to it being fully modeled and shaded.
You are correct Phil
I think I had it easy with shading my truck; paint on those older vehicles was a simple clearcoated diffuse color. Modern car paint is so much more complex and complicated
Seriously correct me if I'm wrong but the dull renders you get from Filmic isn't that supposed to be similar to the RAW images you get from something like a RED camera? Which then you are supposed to take into color correction to get the exact look your going for? or am I way off base here?
And the scarier, all the bumpiness in the modeling will start to become apparent
Yep, lighting can make or break a render, especially if you're going for photoreal. I learnt that the hard way.
And the lighting is the most important part
I really want to start shading, start creating that car material
Thanks Jake
