This stream is part of week 2 in the August 2019 Class: "Get Started Building Stuff with Blender 2.8"
Plain gray models can be boring. So we paint them with colors! This is where "textures" work their magic. But before we can paint on our 3D models, we have to layout UVs. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, don't worry. After you watch the texturing chapter and the live event for this week, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Class Live Stream Schedule: RSVP to get notified when we go live.
- Week 01 - 3D Modeling with Blender 2.8
- Week 02 - UVs and Texture Painting
- Week 03 - Shading and Lighting with Eevee
- Week 04 - Class Wrap
@drgnclw Yeah my sanity waiting for it to render. 2.8 seems really slow to me for some reason.
thecabbagedetective You're gonna break something :D
Ha Aaron
Alright man, 8K it is for me hehehe
Easy to test: just clear and re-mark the seam and watch your vert count at the bottom :)
blanchsb It can but naturally the texture itself will be mirrored as well so it can make it look a bit copy pasted.
Sound's wrong, tobles
ttobles ... don't think that's true ... the seam is just used for the UV layout and necessarily duplicates at the seams ... however, the original model does not have the extra verts
[Q] does having a mirror modifier help on symmetrical items during the UV process? I guess it has it's uses and sometimes doesn't depends if you want repeating texture details perhaps?
[Q] Seeing as we're working on low poly models is there going to be a suggested limit to the size of the textures? 512x512 for example?
