This stream is part of week 2 in the August 2019 Class: "Get Started Building Stuff with Blender 2.8"
Plain gray models can be boring. So we paint them with colors! This is where "textures" work their magic. But before we can paint on our 3D models, we have to layout UVs. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, don't worry. After you watch the texturing chapter and the live event for this week, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Class Live Stream Schedule: RSVP to get notified when we go live.
- Week 01 - 3D Modeling with Blender 2.8
- Week 02 - UVs and Texture Painting
- Week 03 - Shading and Lighting with Eevee
- Week 04 - Class Wrap
How do I get the question tag?
Every seam will be visible in the textured version so a lot of seams is usually bad,
concrescence but I do teach college students too so that could work out haha
uff I have some terrible UV mapping give me a second XD
[Q] ... ignore this
concrescence haha yeah, most of the kids that are learning that are in middle school...so
gotcha
[Q] Can I create a PNG image with alpha of the UV layout? I would like to use it to create details in Photoshop such as a cord pattern to overlay my Blender texture painting.
I suck at uv unwrapping. My mind hasn't 'wrapped' around the concept fully yet. This is helpful but I need more practice.
You'd still want to maximize the space so you don't waste space on textures.
