This event is part of the October 2018 Class, "Shading & Lighting with Blender"
This first week is a shading and lighting crash course. We're overviewing render engines like Cycles, Eevee, material properties, node editing, mixing BSDFs, the Principled shader, lamps, HDRI's, and Global Illumination.

Hopefully they'd start developing tools for Blender. Even if they remain commercial tools, that's better
They could buy Blender out too but iirc they said they're not interested in money so goooood luck with that.
I mean what if everyone changes to Blender and paid software goes bankrupt
Exactly Kent
I can't imagine how commercial 3D developers could interrupt Blender's momentum. Sure they can throw more money at development for innovation's sake. But naturally Blender will assimilate their tech over time and we all benefit from it
They're always targeting Blender. I'm sure they've been keeping an eye on the progress. Probably have even tried to buy Ton out. Just like when Autodesk noticed the advantages of Scupltris.
We could rally like in Ready Player One
we'll have to hope that the .org will stay firm :) even in the light of heaps of $
But that's the circle of business life.
