Buckle up for a LONG project.
Thanks to my kids I've become quite fond of "diggers" over the past couple years. All the complex shapes, hard edges, bolts, hydraulics, tire treads, etc. It's a modelers playground and labyrinth rolled into one.
I'm going to start building a digger - a Caterpillar 434E specifically - as accurately and detailed as I can. The name of the game here is organization, perseverance, and efficiency because most of the shapes are not difficult to build. There's just. so. many. of. them. Which gave me an idea...
Stop! Collaborate and Listen
Why don't we build this thing together? For those interested in following the project, I'm hoping at least a few will participate by modeling certain pieces of the backhoe themselves to be submitted to me for review and incorporation into the final model.

At Yutube, there are plenty of videos on model Caterpillar 434E (backhoe)

will check it out (anyway) now that I know about it...
I really like Kent's style of how he is added details. I often feel "constrained" by the good topology and trying to work out the details. This blank canvas idea is really getting my brain going.
sshanr the stream goes up as a recording in a day or so... it's great to rewatch at your own pace, follow along, pause...
I would (if I were you) try and follow live now, come back to it later...
sshanr do not worry - the stream is recorded, and within a day or two, you will be able to watch it over again and pause as needed. :)
rationalrats I rarely use it, but it's not like you say it is in Maya...
