This stream is part of the June 2018 Class: Vehicle Modeling with Blender
Vehicle modeling is pure hard surface modeling. Therefore it's important to be proficient with general polygon modeling techniques. This first week, we're ramping into this particular modeling skillset to prepare us for the vehicle modeling extravaganza to come!
@bitblox If I'm just trying to pose the finished retopology, I'd likely use rigify. But for production-quality animation, I'd rig it from scratch. Does that answer your question?
speaking CAD ? The only free alternative I found is freeCad. quite ok for small assets
Omar, hardops helps a bit. though still requires cleaning up.
Heya Thibaut
I've always wanted a CAD tools on Blender, when doing architectural stuff it gets kinda messy in Blender
hello hello :)
I'd like to try Houdini. Just because.
because if I were to make a character and have it completely ready for production and I wanted to have it in a pose do I need to rig it? Or would you just sculpt it and not pose it later on.
and CAD has way less controll, designs end up very blocky in CAD. The software is getting better at making smoother more organic surfaces, but it can't beat just picking a vert or edge and moving it where you want.
Houdini has the deepest guts.
