Yeah that seems like a good idea @theluthier, only concentrate on head, paws etc.

Also often I will grow hair from a simplified mesh.

    What Thibaut just said actually

thecabbagedetective maybe duplicate the sculpt and decimate it to use it as hair base ?

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

Hmm if I were building a bear, I would only sculpt details where fur wouldn't be grown. Like the bear's body doesn't need fine detail since hair will cover it.

This event is part of the August 2018 Class, "Getting Started with 3D Modeling & Blender"

Digital sculpting is the more artistically intuitive method of 3D modeling. If pushing and pulling verts felt like the hard way of doing things, sculpting will be a welcomed alternative!

This stream collaborates with the Fundamentals of Digital Sculpting course. We’ll be discussing/demonstrating the pros and cons of digital sculpting as well as how it compares to mesh modeling. Again, practice makes perfect with any craft, so we will practice sculpting as well. Bring your questions and be sure to have your pen and tablet ready to practice with me!
