I think the polycount really didn't get the reaction it deserved though. Most reactions I saw were very face value and literal. Of course optimizing your meshes is still going to be a thing. But not requiring a poly budget and choosing what details get more attention instead of baking it down to a normal map is going to open things up to creative freedom in games and film.

I am a bit skeptical about the Unreal 5 demo, in the way that it's a demo, I bet it won't be as smooth in a real production
