Transforming Objects

Transforming, when it comes to 3D, simply means moving, rotating, and scaling. To view and control the transform properties of an object in Blender, head to the Object tab in the Properties Editor.

The three main hotkeys for manipulating objects are:

  • G: Grab
  • R: Rotate
  • S: Scale

When you start transforming an object, you'll be placed in a transform mode where you can use a few other hotkeys to control the result:

  • Press X, Y, or Z: Constrain to an axis
  • Hold Shift: Move in small increments
  • Numbers: Transform by that amount
  • Esc or RMB: Cancel the transformation
