Introducing understanding Materials and Textures
This introduction to Materials and Texture course serves as a way to start breaking down materials. We focus on how to start asking 3 questions when beginning to study any material. This process takes lighting information, surface texture, and unique properties into account.
From there we give a worksheet to practice your own studies on the four basic forms. We want you to work on more than just sphere and cube studies to reinforce a deeper understanding and repetition of recreating materials to the best of your ability. The .PSD can be found in the Course Files tab near the top. If you're looking to challenge yourself further after the 4 basic forms, try taking on a complex form.
If you're truly able to understand the material your studying, you should be able to apply it to a complex shape like a human hand, chandler, nightstand, etc. Whatever it might be that challenges you to push your skill level and understanding of different material studies.
