Creating a SciFi Environment Illustration

Instructor:
Guest Instructor

Environments can be overwhelming, so let's break it down into easy to follow steps!

In this tutorial, Anthony discusses the process he uses to illustrate an imagined science fiction environment. He takes you through understanding the importance of thumbnailing and creating strong values first. He also goes through some of his own tips that help him get through the process along with the tricky subject matter of perspective!

Here is a quick look at the topics covered:

  • Isolated asset designing
  • Thumbnail sketches
  • Monotone underpainting
  • Color wash
  • Rendering
  • Polish and Finish
Remember that the process on learning to paint at his speed takes time and commitment to creating more and more, but with enough practice you will find your own speed increases! So don't get discourages if your first one doesn't match the same level of quality, if it was that easy everyone would be doing it.
