These videos are a great intro to working in Blender.Β  The last time I used 3D software was way back in the late 90's when Maya briefly had a community edition, so I've done some of this before, but a long time ago in very different software.

Even having a slightly different version of Blender did cause some hiccups (the layers for grease pen simply doesn't appear in the top right in 4.3.2, for instance).Β  But they were few and far between and no course worth doing is going to be kept that up to date.

There were some minor niggles.Β  The main one that comes to mind is that I didn't see any info info in the animation video about where the animation is saved.Β  But perhaps I just missed it?

The videos provide a lot of food for thought and I can see that they only really scratch the surface of what Blender provides.Β  I'm looking forward to going through the Press Start videos next.Β  And then I have a bunch of the core videos lined up to get more in depth with modelling, lighting, texturing, physics and more.Β  If I make it through all of that and I'm still forging ahead, a CGCookie membership may be the next step.

I'm not only impressed, but a bit dumbfounded how well this course was put together. The amount of information the perfect amount to process and learn effectively while still providing a challenge to push me beyond what I previously knew.

I actually started taking the CORE Fundamentals after seeing the trailer for it and dove into the Mesh modeling course. One of the reasons I had given up on blender (or just didn't continue) was the hunt for substantial tutorials that weren't overwhelming. I almost skipped this course as I had taken another course that got me comfortable with some of the core concepts, but I'm so glad I didn't. This really should be the very first part of the CORE Fundamentals track as there is so much value to be gained even reviewing it

If all the courses are like this, I can't wait to dive into the next one

I am very impressed with this introductory course to Blender! It is very clear and expertly thought out in great detail, whilst at the same time not too overbearing and complex.Β

Considering the endless sea of information that is out there about using Blender or getting started with Blender, this course is very much one of the best for introducing the basics of Blender.Β

Really enjoyed it and looking forward to taking on more courses like this!

I completed this course as it was somewhat of a prerequisite for the CORE Fundamentals. I was already familiar with many of the topics covered in Blender Basics and considered skipping it, but I decided to go through it entirelyβ€”and I don’t regret it! Even on topics I already knew fairly well, I discovered something new. The course is brilliantly structured, the instructor explains everything clearly without missing important points or getting sidetracked by irrelevant details. The video quality was always pleasing to the eye, and I particularly enjoyed the animations at the beginning and end of each video. A huge thank you to Jonathan Lampel and CG Cookie!
