Hi, A problem with Select Circle.

posted to: Selecting Objects

Hello, When using Select Circle, can you toggle between active and non-active objects? I can't. :c

Hello. I'm not sure what you mean, can you describe that more clearly? Also maybe put a timestamp in the video where the teacher does what you're trying to do.

Yes, sorry for my bad English.
When you are using the Select Box tool and you select several objects, you can then use Shift‑click to choose the active object, for example to change its transformation properties.
But when you are using the Select Circle tool, you can’t do that.
Does it work like this, or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah it works like that. It's some legacy behavior that the circle select tools locks the viewport. It has always had that quirk.

    Hi Giancarlo SSongieGP

No, you cannot (if I understand your question correctly); Circle Selecting Objects, doesn't change the Active Object.

Same thing in Edit Mode, if you have an Active Vertex (or Edge, or Face), that will remain the Active Vertex (Edge/Face) when you use Circle Select and if there is no Active Vertex to begin with, Circle Select will not create one.

This will become important later on, because some Operations depend on having an Active Vertex.

Ah, I see what you mean now.

Like Omar says, you'll have to Escape Circle Select Mode, to be able to do anything else, like Changing the Active Object.

Circle Select is a bit like painting your Selection (especially in Edit Mode) and not very useful for Object Selection.
