I agree that the scene would ned more trees, but I started way too late (95% of this is done on the last day...).
I did put a subtle Voronoi on the 'sand', but It could use a bit more; I was just thinking, everything is made of plastic and I shouldn't mes with the material too much. But you are right, it is too pristine now.

I love the toy context. The plastic material feels good! Only addition I'd like to see is some breakup of the specular reflection with a noise texture. It feels a little to pristine imo.
Compositionally I would have liked to see a jungle featuring the kind of tree you've made. It's way too appealing to not see more of :)
Finally I'll suggest that something to break up the sand would go a long way. Whether its a wavy kind of pattern or voronoi (or mix). Currently it almost reads as a solid color occupying the majority of the image. Giving it some detail would increase the appeal. Even some sparkles would be nice.
