My first car model Work In Progress

1 love

I needed a classic car model for a new project I'm working on. I know there are plenty of quality models that I could have used for free, but I had never modelled a car before. So, in order to train my hard surface modelling skills, I decided to build my own model.

It wouldn't be difficult to add more details here and there, but I feel that as an excercise it is enough. So here is the result.

Modelling, texturing and animation in Blender 3.x. Rendered in Cycles.

Most textures are procedural, built ad-hoc for this project.

    Excellent!
Very nice clean topology, not easy to do on the complex sweeping shape of a car.

Totally looks great, cars are hard to do. In my mind the driver is James Bond with a dark sneaking mission suit. Keep up the good work Ricardo.

Well, it's going to be a new driver. Some kind of alien visitor who will modify the car to build a small spaceship. At the moment I only have hand sketches of the alien and the ship, but this will be my next project.

    Looks great!
Especially for a first car...cars are not the easiest to do, compared to some other hard surface modeling.

  • This looks really nicely done!
The only place that seemed to lack some detail to me is when the Gull Wings are open. The brown interior surfaces, and the door, appear to be lower in detail than everything else when it's open.

    Everything else looks spectacular!

Yes you are right. Modelling the door hinges and the atachments of the pneumatic arms to the frame would have been easy and quite an improvement. Maybe I revisit it on the future.
