My entry for the BlenderGuru Fantasy competition. BlenderArtists is down for now, so I'll post my preliminary render here. The sushi chef (or Itamae) on the left is cutting a fish for her next dish. All assets made in Blender. Textures from Poliigon's free collection and Textures.com. All compositing done in Blender.
For this piece, I'm trying to make the Itamae feel playful, graceful, and of course, a tad bit dangerous (note: limbs are literally knives). Any feedback welcome!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll work on dirtying up the floor a bit. I could see how the noren (curtain) messes with the color scheme a bit, so I'll change its color to grey. I can reduce the saturation on the fish, but for a long time people just thought it was a blur or part of the arm. On that note, I'll also decrease the motion blur on the arms.
By the way, any ideas on what should go behind the door? It should probably be the kitchen.
Interesting idea. Some observations: the blue curtain(?) and the black/white floor break the warm and humid color sceme of the main part for me. I'd shift the focus on the main character. The texture on the grey flask looks not convincing. Before I read your description, I thought it was a banana, not a fish. Too much blur for the hands and underarms - I could not recognize the "knives" Same is true for the leg/foot. There has to be more indication of these part beeing metallic and knife-like. Floor is too clean. The posture looks not bad, but can be improved. Do you have a reference for it?
