So, I finished this a week ago and I think it's done but I feel like I could probably get more realistic. Maybe the lighting or the materials somethings just missing. But for now this is the finished product come out of the the craftsman course. I modelled and textured everything except the toothpaste, candles, ect.. small filler objects. It definitely feels like it took too long at a total of like 124 hours.
Looking great Sam. Weird place for the toilet though. Must be an European thing.
haha yeah it's a somewhat normal thing to see thanks to more compact houses in the UK
The toilet placement COULD be worse. At least it's not next to the KITCHEN sink!
Glad I'm not the only one that thought the toilet was weirdly placed :D
I agree it looks great. I also agree it feels like it's missing. What I'd suggest is take a look around your own bathroom. What's in there that you can include? You have toothpaste... what about a tooth brush? hair brush? Hand towels? Think about the person who would have this as their bathroom. What things would they have in there? (Things that might not be in your own bathroom.) What things are they into that might influence how they decorate the space? And is this for a single person or for a couple? (in which case, you'll have even more things.)
Also... how old is the place? is it brand new? Old? if it's old, you might think about how you could add wear and tear to the materials you have and such. Maybe some dirt maps to break up the reflections on the counter and such.
124 hours might feel like a long time... I did a rustic bedroom about 9 years ago, and I worked on it over a month. I probably spent close to that making everything that I did for that piece, but I learned a lot along the way (for example, wood grain long before Craftsman was a course), but I also wasn't using the precision of the craftsman course when I was making it either.
Most of the time, when a scene feels like it's missing something, if you think about the "story" element.... who lives there? what do they like? how would they decorate? are they neat or messy? etc. you'll start to get a feel for what needs to be there and will often take a room from feeling like a "staged" magazine piece to something that feels lived in.
Keep it up!
