My result of the HUMAN course. Well, I really meant to make a portrait of an actual, realistic human character, but I got distracted and sidetracked around the retopology phase. Since I love the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I decided to make a portrait of Cloud Strife and I applied all the knowledge I gained during the course. The hardest things in terms of making this semi-realistic face were: face proportions (how to make it look stylized, yet believable), the hair (oh my, the hair...) and in general to make him look like the character and not a guy cosplaying the character.
The whole project was getting quite heavy to work with for my computer, so I used Substance Painter to bake the textures and necessary mesh maps, and thus I managed to optimize it a bit. I also used SP for texturing the shoulderpad.
Thank you Kent for this amazing course! I will be definitely coming back to it!
LOVE THIS
brzostek! Awesome work 👏👏
Thank you, Kent!!!! I'm really glad you like it! :D Your course made me believe that I can handle creating a good looking character and also I'm still amazed how much can be done in Blender without addons, even after several years of learning it.
Oh yeah, I second Omar's comment, awesome indeed. Grooming a character's hair is one of the most enjoyable workflows for me. You should be proud of yourself. Well done, Piotr.
Thank you Bennie! Hair grooming was certainly a big part of this project and at first I thought that it's impossible to make it look good, but I managed to trust the process and start enjoying it, placing a strand by strand and with more patience.
Dude awesome result. I've been a fan of FF7 since the original back in the 90's and as being familiar with Cloud for decades, I approve. You know Clair Obscur Expedition 33 just come out of nowhere and became one of my favorite turn base RPG's.
Thanks Omar! I haven't played the original FF7 yet (although the PS1 was my childhood), but I'm willing to give it a try someday! Now I'm playing FF7 Rebirth, but Clair Obscur is on my radar, it seems to be really unique!
