This is Mo'o Nui. He comes from a not so far away galaxy, looking for some fun in our tiny planet. He is going to be the pilot of a spaceship I built some time ago (https://cgcookie.com/projects/interceptor300sl-part-2).
These are the presentation pictures, before I finish the two part animation video I'm working on. I tried a realistic approach, because I'm going to mix it with some real world footage. Modeling, sculpting and texturing made in Blender. I hope you like it!
PD: According to Google Translator, Mo'o Nui means big lizard in Hawaiian language. I was also thinking Mokomoko, meaning lizard in Maori, but it didn't fit properly in the label patch he wears on his chest.
Love the details, Ricardo. Well done so far, man.
Thank you! I appreciate the comment.
Even cooler, without the helmet he feels like a lizard mixed with a gorilla, he's a Gorizard. The first render looks cool with the pose and the attitude.
I wanted to make a hybrid between a reptile and a human, and at the first stages of sculpting it looked more like a gorilla. Several versions after I was happy enough with the reptile resemblance, although the ears don't help 😒.
Tiny TRex arms would have helped probably. But I need human proportions to sit him in the spaceship, that is actually a modified Mercedes 300 SL car. With the Trex arms he wouldn't be able to hold the steering wheel or to use the gear stick. So long arms it is.
