submissipons problem

Hi,

I tried to submit, but it says my file is too large, 150mb, and I don't feel like paying $80 for a subscription.  Is there another way to submit?  I can share from google drive or something

That seems really large, when I submitted mine it was about 1mb. Is 150mb what you're trying to send to Sketchfab?

  • kroneborge replied

Yes, but it does have a bunch of texturing done to the tank

  • Jonathan Lampel replied

Try exporting it to an FBX or OBJ file and then upload the textures separately. That should do it!

I was able to export as FBX, but have no idea how to add the textures again.  Also, there are some extra 3d objects appearing in the view now that sure aren't in the file when I look at it in blender

When you export, select only the tank objects and then choose Only Selected in the export options. That'll stop any hidden objects, cameras, or whatever from also being added to the file.

As for textures, you can  hit the Edit 3D Settings button on Sketchfab, head to the materials tab (the icon looks like an image) and upload your texture as the base color. Click on the different parts to switch which object is selected if you have multiple.

    That model is looking good!

    Hi @jlampel

I have submitted my tank model but I cannot get the gears to have the correct opacity on SketchFab.

Do you have any advice on this ?

  • Jonathan Lampel replied

Hey Ben, in Sketchfab's 3D settings, head to the material tab, turn on Opacity, and use the texture that has the alpha:

@jlampel - thanks for the advice. I’ll try that tomorrow and let you know how I go

@jlampel - Thank you. I had not selected the correct image in the opacity settings and I then had to invert it as well. It's working fine and my misunderstanding is with SketchFab.

Right - now onto the sculpting tutorial !!!
