CPU Core Tuning and Assignment

Background: I work in an IT environment and from time to time we find it advantageous to assign a program to specifically 1 cpu core instead of letting Windows bounce the program around (auto assign).

Does anyone know the pros and cons of assigning blender exe to one specific core? If so is there a preference?

We do not use CPU Core 1 as it really messes with Windows Background and Cleanup needs.... usually it is CPU3 for a 4 core CPU, 4 for a 6 core, and 6 for a 8 core cpu.

Thanks

FYI... did some tests on my new 1080.... only running windows 10 and a blender 3 min render.... allowing auto assign, worked fine... but when I assigned it to CPU Core 2/3... it actually took an extra 45 sec. ...so no advantage unless you are loading your cores down with multiple programs....then you can get a little savings on time.... so will leave it in auto assign...
