Hey guys,
I have some problems with UV unwrapping. I did this before with some simple mesh´s and everything was fine. But here I use the first time boolean modifier. I thought this would make my life with this amount of cuttable parts easier.
Now I think the problem could be the topology?
Do I have to fix these n-gons around the whole model or maybe just in the areas where it's not flat?
Or do you have any other tips or suggestions for me to fix the stretching parts?
Thank you a lot in advance for your help.
here are some pictures to illustrate my problem. I also can upload the blend file if needed.
Hi snowingname, maybe it helps if you set the Unwrap Method to Conformal:
If that doesn't help, please send a link to your .blend.
Hey spikey, you're fast as always.
Thank you a lot for helping me out often!
Looks like this solved the problem.
There are a few other problems as well but i try to fix them first by my self.
Have a nice day.
Next time, you could also not apply the Boolean Modifier. Then the base mesh unwraps without the Boolean (because it's in Edit Mode when being unwrapped) and no stretching caused by the Boolean will occur.
Or if you, for some reason must apply the Boolean, simply unwrap the mesh before applying the Modifier (and don't unwrap it again after applying...).
Ok, that makes sense.
I learned a lot about modeling and texturing in the last time but there is a ton of information to know. I trying to apply all this to my workflow to get better and more efficient.
Can you recommend some videos on a complete workflow for this kind of work?
Thanks again for your help.
You're absolutely right that there is really a lot to learn!
However I can't really tell what's good to watch in this case; I myself are a slow learner and just watched loads of different explanations (found the ones on CGCookie the best I've seen) and and try it and let the information sink in and try again ubtill everything starts to make sense. (Of course I still have a lot to learn left, but for me that's a plus...)
Maybe somebody else can recommend some videos.
