Question: Rigging a low poly character

I'm rigging a low poly character but when I try to bend any of its limbs it breaks. I can't figure out where I'm going wrong.  I've tried redoing it a couple of times. I'm following grant abbitt's low poly man on youtube. I tried to upload my blender file with this question but for some reason it didn't upload so I'm adding a screenshot instead.

Thank you for any help/resources :)

    Hi Niamia

It seems like you don't have the geometry  parented to the armature. (select the geo, then the armature and ctrl+P) If it is parented and its still not moving, then its not weighted. (when parenting use automatic weights at first to see if things are working)If its weighted and still not conforming to what your arm bones are doing, then there may not be enough geometry to bend like that.

If you still want to share your Blend file use Dropbox, Google Drive, or something similar.

    Hello,

I've parented the geometry to the armature. I've added automatic weights as well. I thought maybe it would be that there isn't enough geometry to bend. I tried making an arm more meatier but it still wouldn't bend.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hey Niamia,

I had taken a look and it was you didn't have any geometry at the elbows or knees. It was just a straight extrude from the shoulder and hips. By putting 3 edge loops centered around the elbow joint it gives it plenty of geometry to deform. Because its low poly you may even want to experiment and just keep the center edge loop. I fixed the elbows and put a copy in your drive folder. I'll leave it to you to try it out on the knees. ;)

    Hope that helps!

OH gosh, thank you so much! I really appreciate the help. I like that you left a challenge/try it yourself in the folder.

And woah! It worked!! Thank you, we have bend off :)
