Hi,
I just wanted to ask, is what taught in this course still valid when working with Blender 2.81?
Thanks and all the best,
Ido
Hi Ido - This course is quite old and hasn't been 100% up-to date in terms of the specific Bender version for a long time. However the concepts within the workflow are still very relevant. Meaning that the Blender UI and buttons in the videos won't be consistent with Blender 2.8+ and that will be confusing to a degree. But the workflow approach is still how I would create the same project in 2.8+.
In other words this isn't a good course to follow step-by-step. But then again it never really was. The value with advanced courses like this always lies in workflow concepts more than than buttons pressed.
If you decide to watch the course don't hesitate to ask questions 🙂
Hi Kent and thanks for the fast response.
I think I'll take this course.
Btw, I see the site admins completely changed the learning flows for Blender and put the 2.7 tutorial at the bottom of the list. Is it still in chronological order from the beginner level to advanced? you really mixed things up.
Thanks and all the best,
Ido
Blender 2.8 really throws a kink into organized curriculum like the learning flows. The unfortunate reality is the order of Flows will be mixed up until we can re-record or replace the existing 2.7 courses. We're in the process of doing that but it's going to be a slow one.
Aside from the 2.7 fundamentals at the bottom, the rest of the flows are pretty much in order conceptually. But they're not in order based on Blender version.
I've downloaded Blender 2.66a (64Bit) for this course:
https://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.66/blender-2.66a-windows64.zip
After finishing, I'll revisit the course and look what has to be adapted in Blender 2.8 (if Kent isn't faster 😉).
