Hello everyone,
I 've opened this thread for the pumpkin contest!
I have a pretty accurate idea of the final picture as I started the project with a sketch.
In some words that's going to be a kind of possessed mechanical pumpkin, looking for a fresh meal (kind of toxic fertilizer).
Here is a first picture of my project. It's going to challenge myself. Because I want ot finish it and experiment with some aspects of Blender I don't really know well.
I hope the community will enlight me on some points if needed.
Hope to be back on the project again soon.
ssmurfmier1985 oh. good to know. Would you have any video recomendation? Or is it simple enouth that I should got it by my self?
dragonice69 It's almost the same as in 2.79, though there is a new node in 2.8 to make it easier (principled volume shader).
These videos helped me understand volumetrics better:

Hope this helps!
dragonice69 Hello, just to be sure we are talking of the same thing.
What I did is I selected the Volume Scatter option in the world tab, within the Volume section, I then adapted my settings.
For the swirls in the fog, It's just a picture I overlayed in compositing.
Finally, the render time was huge on my computer, something like 1d and 20 h...
Therefore I used the free renderfarm sheepit to render my picture, there It took something like 1h30 maybe 2, I can't remember.
