hello guys.
i am new and just finished my first course of grant wilk (introduction to blender (learn the blender basics) )

My main critique is that the tops are too round.  For the "teeth" I'd suggest using cylinders instead of UV spheres.  For the ring you'd have to enter edit mode (the mode where change the shape of your mesh) and scale individual parts to zero.  That's just my opinion, though, and if you like it round, that's fine.  Great work!

A fitting first model, not bad at all. :)

Welcome to CG Cookie!  Do you plan to continue with another  course?

hey william. thanx for the critique.
ill keep that in mind to use cylynders instead of uv spheres.
the edit mode is that like scaling ? also with a uv spere wont i have a too flat end ?
    kinda curious about that.

hey jake. thanx a lot i sure do plan to follow more courses. i still am kinda doubting but its possible tomorrow i upgrade to the payed version to get access to all courses.
its fun working in a 3D program wish i found it out sooner :( so many years i wasted that could be used to learn what i deamed about

i am also glad to be here . the comunity sure is active and all nice :D

yyukinoh1989 Press tab to switch between object mode (the default) and edit mode.  Edit mode is where you can select and manipulate the individual components of your mesh.  The manipulators and hotkeys that work in object mode also work in edit mode.  There are also many modeling tools you can use to add details to the model.

Hello yyukinoh1989 , welcome to CG Cookie! You did great your  first time using Blender and making the logo, good job :-)

If you follow the "Mesh Modeling Fundamentals" course next, you will learn all about Edit Mode and the cool things you can do with it. There you will learn to shape basic objects (like a cube) into all kinds of unique forms, so that you can make everything you want.

Keep up the good work and have fun learning!

yyukinoh1989 if you do get a subscription, you'll find out about Edit Mode and other such things in the next course in the introductory learning flow.

For what it's worth, I subscribed last November, and I am very satisfied with the courses and the community here, I've found them much easier to learn from than many of the random YouTube videos that are out there (although there are plenty of very good YouTube tutorials also).

Whether you join or not, Blender is a little complicated, but with patience and practice you'll be great at it.

thanx for the info. i just checked edit mode and it looks kinda confusing but i am sure with the lessons ill be able to understand or i hope so.
still not sure when to start upgrade now or wait till classes. i am not sure i can pay directly a second time sadly and the classes seems kinda intresting. but then again i also am so impatient to learn more now xD

  • William Miller(williamatics) replied

yyukinoh1989 The classes alone are worth the membership.  I'm not sure what you mean about paying a second time; the classes are just one month, right?

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

Indeed but if i start membership now , it will run out during classes .
Since my membership will stop around half august.

  • William Miller(williamatics) replied

yyukinoh1989 Oh, I see what you mean.  Why not just become a citizen on the sixth day of August?  Then you won't have to cancel until after the class is over.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

    I can indeed do that.
