Hi, for a few months I have the problem that I can not get on with the design of the environment. I see individual points very clearly in front of me but not the whole picture. Do you have an idea or tutorial how to make a living environment for a game and I do not mean a template but rather how to find the way for it. I would be very happy if someone could help me.
APPROACH 1: MODELING AN ENVIRONMENT IS LIKE LIVING REAL-LIFE. (BOTTOM-UP)
One does not see one's entire world (or the scope of an entire MMORPG-game-environment) at once, unless you are pilot or astronaut. Instead on can choose to travel from one place of interest to another place of interest, you know... those mysitcial spots to which you currently feel attracted too.
On that journey you will learn more (about Life itself, about your Blender skills) and your horizon will expand (and so will your current view on your environment)
That is how you can approach "creating an environment". start with building the objects inside your current vision, viewpoint.. And.. when the time (and your modeling skill-set) is right (for you), new horizons will attract your attentions and you only then will be able to create the next piece of your environment puzzle.. going forward along the way..
After all.
What good is living and experiencing life to the fullest if you already know the outcome of everything?
APPROACH 2: STORYBOARD YOUR ENTIRE ENVIRONMENT / JOURNEY FIRST. (TOP-DOWN)
Take a look over here to get the picture and to get visually on the same page.

Study the way professionals in the field work, learn from the masters. Draw out your story completely on the wall and work (top-down) backwards, by first creating smaller parts, scenes of the entire landscape in which you story is going to play out.
TIP: You can even use Meditation or other visualization exercises to get the bigger picture first.
After all... Life itself is all about how you choose to live it.. and so is the way you build your own environment.
Q: Was this a worth-full contribution to your current environment-building-challenge Christian?
