Who is going to do SculpJanuary?

Contests and Challenges

Are there people here who are going to do Sculptjanuary?

If you don't know what it is: It's the same concept as inktober but then with sculptures. So the challenge is to sculpt everyday and upload it with the hashtag  !

I am a beginner but I am planning to try this challenge! I was wondering if more people here have this idea, because I think it's a great way to improve ourselves!

Anyways, good luck and happy new year!

Yep, I'm also planning to do it, I'll probably update my projects on a daily basis so it's visible by all.

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

Oh my!?! This looks fascinating. I'm just prepping myself to take this CG Cookie Training thing seriously and full-time. Now this chicken crosses my path. And yes, extreme beginner here too, so I'm definitely not going to worry about winnig anything other than the experience from pushing myself. That whole hashtag thing is greek to me - I really don't play on social media other than to look at Facebook from time to time.

Anyway, I'm game. Not sure where I'll fit it all in, but you don't know if you don't try. Yes?

Thanks for bringing this up Paula

  • Paula Pazumi(cattece) replied

Really cool! Will you update it on instagram too? Then I would love to follow you! Good luck! (Little late, I am sorry hahahah)

  • Paula Pazumi(cattece) replied

It's good that you will try! I know that you will improve with this challenge and it will be fun! And the winners will be chosen randomly, so a beginner can win too :)  But it's good to do it for yourself and not for the price! Good luck and will you post it here? I would love to see it!

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

Sorry, Paula. I don't have InstaGram (never used it - not very social media adept I guess). I do plan to post here as well as on the FaceBook site for SculptJanuary (just becane a member).

And alas, I have already fallen behind on the daily challenge. With trying to pound through the Learning Flows and trying to do extra stuff with each lesson to help ingrain it in my thick skull and the Live Streams. Ugggg. How does one fit it all in? I know - excuses. But I will try to play catch up (I at least started the mouth and nose).

And no, I'm certainly not in it for the prizes, it's more of a personal challenge to me.

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

It looks like Thibaut is off to the races. Nice mouh and nose.

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

I'll also be posting in my own polybook methinks. Once I get one up and running - soon. Time for Live Stream

  • Paula Pazumi(cattece) replied

wow you are already doing great! Keep up the challenge and I am sure you will see improvement end of this month !

  • Sean B.(battryu) replied

I'm also participating! Made a collection on my profile that I'll be updating daily.

    Keep it up everyone!

I'm  looking forward to all you great sculptings.

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

Very detailed work you do. I've commented on your page as Calander Page as well

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

My Sculpt Polybook. Might make it easier to discern through what may be a long list of projects here too.

  • Thibaut Bourbon(tbrbn) replied

Thank you! Today's was a hassle, figured reaching hard surface level of details via sculpting is not that simple !

  • Chetan Ranjan(ranjancnr) replied

I am also joining in the fun: https://www.cgcookie.com/t/713-chetan-sculptuary-2018
Good luck to all of you. I can't wait for 31st to see all the ideas and sculpts. :)

  • Paula Pazumi(cattece) replied

Good luck! We al will improve together!

Ugggg... I'm trying to get through the Learning Flows (Modeling in Blender) and way to many chickens have been crossing my path. I see that the sculpting tut is down the list in that Flow, so I'll do what I can, but obviously I don't have the basics down yet and feel like I'm getting run over.

I apologize guys, but I'm going to concentrate on gettnig through the Flows and putting in extra efforts to make that all seem natural. ;-(
