render resolution, encoding speed

Great videos, really appreciate all the stuff on sound.  Is the encoding speed related to the file size, is there a rule for file size and the encoding speed to choose?  Why the render resolution of 20% in the looping video (last video)? Thanks.

Ooof, I think that was just an oversight in the recording. I should have increased that to 100% for final *final* export. Sorry about the confusion.

The rule with encoding, as far as I understand it, is that the slower the encoding speed the smaller the file size. Faster encoding = larger file size. So it depends on what you want. If you're doing a test/preview (throw-away) export, then it's probably wiser to choose a faster encoding speed. But for a final export, I generally want the highest quality with the smallest file size. It could also depend on if you plan to upload your video for web streaming (youtube or vimeo) or for burning to a DVD.

...People still burn DVD's right? 🤔

I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed the sound portion of the course! It was something I really wanted to teach.
