Just wondering if there is a difference between the First and Second objects that you link the empty to? Also, if we had 3 or more objects we wanted to dangle, do we have to add more empty objects? Kinda curious why it's only limited to 2 objects in the constraint settings

The order of the First and Second Object doesn't matter.
It's an old system, that's probably why it's only limited to 2 Objects per Constraint.
But there is a fast way to Add a Constraint between Rigid Bodies, that you can also use for more than 2 Objects (will prodsuce more than 1 Constraint):
From the Object Menu:
It will automatically Add the Empties which hold the Constraints and you can change the Constraint Type in the "Adjust Last Operations' pop up (or F9).
