Why does the material change when in edit mode? It might be a professional standard, but how do you do that? Also if I wanted to turn it off, how would I do it?
It's not the material that's changing. If you click on the icon in the upper right with the square with 4 tiny squares, one of which is filled in (Mesh Edit Mode Overlays), under Shading, Retopogy is checked. If you uncheck that, the material colors will return.
I think it may be something that was saved in the file before it went out and no one thought to uncheck it :D After you asked, I was wondering about it my self and figured it out after a bit of looking through the settings. That was my first thought when I saw the question was that it might not be the material itself, but something with one of the overlays, and that's what it wound up being :D
