I followed the reference image setup identically - didnt scale it at all, set it 1m back from origin.
However when I create my path to the handle size shown and then set my depth to turn it into a cylinder, I have to set my depth up much higher (closer to .4m compared to the video's .122m) in order to get the same thickness to length ratio. This is then causing issues later on when I add my displace modifier. Any idea what could be causing this descrepancy? Is it something to do with the scale of the path?
Edit: It was indeed the scale. By simply setting the depth to 1.22m and then scaling the path in both the Z axis and overall i was able to mimic the reference video and then my modifiers behaved as expected
Most of the time if modifiers aren't behaving properly, scale isn't 1:1:1 :D Looks like you figured it out :D
Oh,
Let me give a little warning here:
Do not Scale Curves in Object Mode!
With Meshes, you can Apply the Scale, if you did that, but with Curves that can give really wrong and unexpected results!
It is usually best to do all your Transforms on Curves in Edit Mode.
Say NO to Auto-Apply Scale 😉
